Position Description

We are looking for a talented and experienced SQL DBA Engineer who has strong experience with NoSQL databases to join our team.  You will be expected to work autonomously and contribute to several high-impact projects including architecting the data pipeline infrastructure to support our customer's data needs. This is a remote role and you will be working in CST business hours. You will be part of team which will have on-call duties outside CST business hours as well and you would need to respond to high-priority incident pager.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide thought leadership in terms of governance and best practices for DB (for SQL and NoSQL) design, security, and usage across the enterprise application with the ability to communicate and influence throughout the enterprise

  • Provide clear direction on when to use which NoSQL API

  • Mentor the data engineering team on maintenance/administration/security

  • Mentor and lead development and application engineering teams on SQL and NoSQL optimization and tuning

  • Guide and work on architecture and partitioning decisions to balance scalability and consistency

  • Optimize performance and cost through indexing, query tuning, and integrate DB into CI/CD pipelines with the help of DevOps teams

  • Optimize cloud costs versus performance with DB (for SQL and NoSQL)

  • Automate monitoring, alerting, and backups for availability, performance, and compliance

  • Evaluate new NoSQL DB features and recommend adoption strategies

     

Workplace: Remote, Latin America

 

Must Have Skills:

  • 5 years of hands-on experience with Mongo DB/NoSQL
  • Extensive experience designing and optimizing NoSQL DB resource models, containers, databases, and collections
  • Ability to properly size NoSQL DB by looking at access patterns and data growth to optimize performance and cost
  • Must be able to work with application engineering to tune query performance
  • Must be able to identify bottlenecks and optimize performance
  • Ability to script solutions for automation and testing

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Azure Cosmos DB architecture and administration
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory a plus
  • Strong knowledge of Azure SQL Database/Azure Postgres a plus
  • Experience working on any other Database technologies hosted on Cloud is plus
  • Experience with Python scripting is a plus
  • Experience with elastic search is a plus
