Position Description

We are seeking a highly-skilled Senior Microsoft 365 Tenant Migration Expert to lead, manage, and execute a complex Microsoft 365 tenant-to-tenant migration to a new single multi-geo tenant. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the Microsoft 365 suite, including Active Directory, Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive. This role requires an expert-level understanding of Microsoft 365 services and a proven track record in leading seamless tenant migrations with minimal business disruption.

 

This is a contract position for a period of 3-4 months.  There is the potential for the expert to work flexible hours; however, there will be a firm deadline to complete the project.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Project Planning & Strategy
    • Lead end-to-end migration project planning, including assessment, analysis, migration strategy, and execution phases
    • Work with stakeholders to define migration objectives, scope, timelines, and resources
    • Conduct in-depth risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential migration challenges
  • Microsoft 365 Tenant Migration Execution
    • Execute multiple tenant-to-tenant migrations within Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive
    • Utilize migration tools Quest and LinkFixer, and native Microsoft tools to conduct efficient migrations
    • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance requirements are met throughout the migration process
    • Develop and utilize runbooks and checklists to ensure accuracy and consistency of migration process
  • Technical Troubleshooting & Support
    • Identify and resolve migration-related technical issues, with a focus on troubleshooting directory synchronization, authentication, and mail flow issues
    • Provide hands-on support for complex migration activities, including hybrid migrations, cross-domain migrations, and Active Directory consolidation
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication
    • Act as the primary point of contact for all migration activities, providing regular updates to stakeholders and addressing concerns
    • Work collaboratively with internal IT teams, external vendors, and end-users to ensure smooth transitions
    • Document and communicate the migration progress, technical requirements, and potential risks
  • Provide end-user documentation for post migration functionality
  • Post-Migration Support & Optimization
    • Oversee post-migration validation to ensure data accuracy and system functionality
    • Provide training and support for users transitioning to the new tenant environment
    • Identify opportunities for optimization in the new environment and suggest improvements 

 

Workplace:  Remote Contract for a client project based in the Eastern Timezone

 

 

Must Have Skills:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft 365 migrations, with a proven track record of successful tenant migrations
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft tenant multi-geo region implementation with GDPR constraints
  • Previous experience using Quest migration tool

  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, EntraID (formerly Azure Active Directory), and multi-tenant environments

  • Strong competency with PowerShell scripting for automation and migration tasks

  • Understanding of security, compliance, and regulatory requirements (GDPR) for Microsoft 365

  • Strong English verbal and written skills to be highly articulate when client facing
     

Preferred Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert
  • Experience in large-scale, multi-tenant environments
  • Familiarity with cloud governance and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with LinkFixer for migrations
